Professional Videography

…Really Re-Live the Moment

Many people think of a video of a wedding like an old home movie we have all seen, and so don't give wedding videography much thought. Wrong! When you hire a quality professional videographer, you are hiring someone with many of the same skills as those required to produce a feature film!

A quality wedding video provides an incredible format to re-live your wedding day (and then some) well into the future. Even more so than with your wedding photography, we urge you to not use an amateur to produce your wedding video. Only a professional has the quality equipment, the experienced hand, and the editing ability to produce the succinct well edited tribute that you deserve.

Elements of a Quality Video
A professional videographer will provide more than simply a real-time video of your wedding and reception. They can also include one or all of the following: Our Story. A video interview of the Bride and Groom talking about how they met, special moments they've shared, when they knew he/she was "the one", how the question was popped, etc. I have watched several of these and I, like everyone else in the room, wished that I had something like this for my husband and myself. Before We Met. A montage of photos of the Bride and Groom growing up. Pre-Wedding Moments. A video showing snippets of the bridal showers, shopping for a wedding gown, video at the Bride and Groom's homes prior to the wedding, shots of the bride dressing, and the groom greeting guests and waiting for the ceremony to begin.

Once the video has been captured, the long hours of editing begin. While quality professional video footage is needed to produce a great wedding video, artful editing and special effects is where the video truly blossoms. All of the footage will be viewed and edited so that it has a logical flow and is a viewable length. Appropriate music, voice over, and titles will be added. You will be truly amazed at the results!

Choosing Your Videographer
Begin your videographer search with the professionals listed in the index of this edition of CENTRAL COAST BRIDE Magazine (page 5). If your internet connection speed is sufficient, check out their web sites for examples of their work. Next conduct phone interviews and ask if they can provide you with an example of their work on a VHS or DVD demo. Evaluate the style of their work, the packages that they offer, and how this fits into your budget for videography.

The Paperwork
Be sure to sign a contract with your chosen videographer. The videography contract will generally specify the total cost, the number of videographers to film at your wedding, the number of hours included, the type of camera(s) that will be used, if you will receive the master tape, the edited tape or both, the number and format (VHS or DVD) of the finished product, and dates when work will be completed.
